Spirituality

Throughout the weekend at Breakout, from dawn til dusk, there will be the opportunity for you to go 'Beyond' with God.

From energetic, heart-thumping worship to soulful chill-out in the creative prayer spaces... worship with hundreds of others or with a group from your tent village.

Maybe you are just curious about faith or maybe you want to go deeper. Whether you are looking to take home ideas and resources to inspire your local churches... or just want some time-out to think and ask questions... or want to experience worship in a different way... Breakout has it all for you!

Explore what it really means to go ‘beyond’ with God – in faith

  • in prayer
  • in action
  • in your community
  • in love
  • in church
  • in worship
  • in life

We are developing an exciting programme for Spirituality at Breakout. Look at what we’ve got so far...

  • Christian Aid will be around for the whole weekend getting you involved in their campaigns and joining in with the worship. Watch out for their activities around the site.
  • Check out ‘Breathe’ over the weekend. It’s a colourful, interactive, reflective installation. Travel around the 12 different sections listening to thought-provoking material on an mp3 player. It’s personal, it’s different, it’s an experience, try it!
  • Jonny Baker will be with us on Saturday night leading us in his own unique style of worship. He will also be leading a multi-media style communion on the Sunday morning.
  • Visit ‘Café Sundae’ on Saturday afternoon for a time of café-style worship – fun and games guaranteed! Read more about Café Sundae below.

Christian Aid

Go Beyond your world with Christian Aid. They will be around the site, in the Christian Aid area of the cafe and getting you fired up and passionate about global injustices.

Come and make sure you find them for loads of games,  campaigns and prayer actions (and the chance to meet someone famous!).

We will also be leading a chilled out love feast on the Sunday morning, so please join us for an informal worship and global communion.

Breathe

Breathe gives you an opportunity to think about some of life’s big questions - to reflect on your relationships with God, with others, with the planet and with yourself. You’ll listen to meditations as you interact with twelve stations. It’s a chance to play, to think, to dream, to listen. Make space this weekend to pause and take a deep breath. For more information about Breathe, please visit the website at www.dare2engage.org/breathe

Cafe Sundae

We're a group of people who decided that we wanted to try a different way of doing church. In fact this will probably be ‘Church as You’ve Never Seen It Before’. Some months it is church as we've never seen it before!

We are based at a Methodist Church near Manchester. Café Sundae is aimed primarily at teenagers but anyone young at heart (who likes loud music, games and film clips) is welcome.

You can come expecting a mixture of:

  • Café style
That means a cafe (obvious hey!) and chairs round tables so you've got somewhere to keep a drink, rather than the normal set-up of row after row after row all facing the front.
  • Interactive table games
We like people to talk to each other, just a little bit, and we promise they won't bite (hard).
  • Multimedia
Lots of songs and pictures for you to ignore because you're too busy going to the café to get another smoothie, not that we mind... putting all that work into it... hours slaving away... sniff.

All challenging you to respond to The Message...

That's a subtle way of saying that we believe God loves us so much that you and I should change our lives, making a difference to others, in our response to God's love. The chances are that if you come to see us in Manchester, we'll be doing something bizarre that month like setting up a barricade guarded by soldiers so that no-one can even get into the church. No, seriously, please feel free to come and see us.

Or why not become our friend on MySpace?
Or just wait till Breakout. See you there!

Take a step beyond with God.

Come to Breakout; Go Beyond.
